9 December 2025 Powdery Wipes: the new generation of skincare on tissue From wipes that remove to wipes that release:a new application ritual for on-the-go cosmetics. For years, cosmetic wipes have been associated with a simple gesture: removal.Makeup, impurities, sebum, and surface residues.A practical, immediate, and functional format, designed primarily for cleansing and daily hygiene. With Powdery Wipes, OPAC introduces a new perspective: a wipe no longer designed only to take away, but conceived to release functional ingredients, cosmetic powders, and a new sensory experience onto the skin. It is an evolution of skincare on tissue that brings the world of wipes closer to advanced cosmetics, opening up a new space between convenience, performance, and on-the-go treatment. The project was presented at GO Wipes, the international conference dedicated to innovation, technologies, materials, and trends in the wipes sector, confirming the industry’s interest in solutions capable of moving beyond the traditional cleansing function of the wipe. From cleansing wipes to skincare treatments In the beauty sector, innovation is not driven only by new actives or new molecules. Increasingly, value is created through the interaction between formula, application substrate, and user experience. Powdery Wipes are a concrete example of this evolution. The aim is to combine the typical convenience of wipes with the sensory and functional richness of a true cosmetic treatment. No longer simple substrates impregnated with light aqueous solutions, but application platforms capable of delivering more complex formulations, enriched with functional ingredients and solid components normally used in other cosmetic categories. The result is a product positioned between two traditionally separate worlds: on one side, the convenience of wipes; on the other, the sophistication of serums, primers, cosmetic powders, and skincare treatments. Hyper-Infusion: when lotion becomes serum At the heart of the project is Hyper-Infusion, a serum-lotion developed to take fabric-based treatments beyond the traditional aqueous solution. The system integrates cosmetic powders and functional ingredients into a formula designed to remain homogeneous, compatible with the production process, and able to provide controlled release onto the skin. This evolution brings the wipe closer to the language of contemporary skincare: texture, sensoriality, actives, skin finish, and the perception of treatment all become part of the same application gesture. Cosmetic powders: sensoriality and performance Powders are highly versatile ingredients. In traditional cosmetics, they are used in face powders, primers, shine-control products, baby care, and body treatments. In Powdery Wipes, powders become part of a more advanced system. They can contribute to different aspects of the cosmetic experience: they improve sensory comfort, provide a silky and velvety feel, support the control of excess sebum, and can enhance the visual appearance of the skin through optical effects. Their integration into a fabric-based treatment makes it possible to move beyond the watery sensation typical of many traditional wipes, transforming application into a richer, more cosmetic, and distinctive gesture. The technical challenge: integrating powders, serum, and tissue IIntegrating powdered ingredients into a liquid formulation designed to be distributed onto a fabric represents a significant technical challenge. Solid particles naturally tend to settle. For this reason, it is necessary to develop a formulation system capable of keeping them stably suspended while allowing uniform distribution during the production process. The formula must be sufficiently structured at rest, yet fluid during processing. It must also be compatible with the textile substrate, the impregnation technology, and the requirements of industrial production. This is where the true value of innovation is created: not only formulating an effective serum, but making it stable, producible, and consistent with the final user experience. Safety, naturalness, and new applications The use of powders in cosmetics also has important safety implications. One of the main critical aspects of traditional powder products is their potential dispersion into the air during application. Integrating the particles within a formulation delivered through a textile substrate helps reduce this exposure while preserving the functional and sensory characteristics of the ingredients. In addition, the use of plant-derived powders, such as rice, oat, and tapioca, opens up new possibilities for formulations focused on naturalness, comfort, and ingredient transparency. The potential of this technology makes it possible to develop different concepts: primer-effect wipes, products for sensitive skin, baby care solutions, body treatments for athletes, formulas with a soft-focus effect, and even more creative developments inspired by the world of makeup. Skincare on tissue: una piattaforma per nuovi concept beauty Powdery Wipes show how tissue can become an innovative substrate for the release of cosmetic actives. Masks, pads, patches, and advanced wipes are progressively expanding their role: from simple supports to active elements of the cosmetic experience. This evolution makes it possible to develop practical, personalised products aligned with new lifestyles, defined by mobility, speed, and the search for multisensory experiences. For beauty brands, the format therefore becomes a strategic lever for differentiation: not only a different way to apply a formula, but an opportunity to create new product categories and new usage habits. From Idea to Industrial Production Transforming an innovative concept into a market-ready product requires much more than a good formulation. In the case of Powdery Wipes, the development path involved research and development, powder selection, substrate choice, stability assessment, production compatibility, safety, sustainability, and control of release onto the skin. The industrialisation phase also required work on the process, with technological adaptations designed to control lotion distribution and powder deposition on the substrate. This step highlights the value of the group’s know-how: OPAC’s experience in fabric-based cosmetic treatments integrates with the expertise developed by OMET in tissue converting, making it possible to work not only on the formula, but also on application technology and industrial producibility. OPAC: innovating fabric-based cosmetic treatments With Powdery Wipes, OPAC takes skincare on tissue beyond the concept of the wipe, creating a new formulation dimension in which substrate, actives, and technology are integrated into a single application experience. This is where the value of the OPAC model is expressed: transforming a market insight into a concrete, safe, compliant cosmetic product that can be produced on an industrial scale. Powdery Wipes open a new direction for the world of cosmetic wipes: from functional product to sensory treatment, from quick gesture to skincare experience, from established format to innovation space for brands and retailers.
